What is Iboga?
"The Root of Reality"
Iboga is a profoundly healing plant medicine originating from equatorial West Africa, primarily Gabon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Cameroon. Known as the "Godfather of all Plant Medicines," it is uniquely capable of facilitating physical healing, spiritual healing, and spiritual discovery. Iboga embodies both masculine and feminine spirits, allowing it to adapt to each individual’s healing needs.
The term “Iboga” refers to the second layer of root bark from the Tabernanthe Iboga shrub, which contains the highest concentration of active alkaloids. While alkaloids are present throughout the plant, this specific layer is most potent for healing purposes.
What's it for?
Mental, Physical, and Spiritual Healing
Iboga is a deeply grounding medicine that heals through truth, aiming to reconnect you with your original, true self and your soul. It achieves this by detoxifying both the body and mind, clearing out anything that does not belong. This process often manifests as a stream of random thoughts and images, akin to a computer defragmentation. Iboga also reveals patterns of thinking and behaviors that are unhealthy or inauthentic, helping you release them to restore mental peace. It goes further by uncovering the origins of your suffering, showing you the truth, and promoting lasting insights.
Beyond the ceremony, Iboga fosters mindfulness and neuroplasticity, supporting the creation of healthier life patterns. Each person’s experience with Iboga is unique, tailored to their specific needs and understanding.
Stages of an Iboga Experience
Onset
Initial effects include warmth, fuzziness, disorientation, and a desire to lie down.
These effects typically begin 15 minutes to 1.5 hours after ingestion and vary greatly by individual tolerance.
Iboga can cause ataxia (impaired coordination), requiring assistance for movement.
Ceremony
The most intense phase, where you remain still and focused inward.
Memories may be reviewed or healing might occur through non-visual senses.
Everything experienced has a purpose—to heal and reveal the truth.
Processing
Occurs the day after the ceremony, bringing emotions and stored memories to the surface for release.
Insights and revelations during this phase are profound and enduring.
Integration
Iboga continues its teaching after the ceremony, enhancing mindfulness and enabling neuroplasticity.
This "homework" phase helps embed healthier habits and choices into daily life.
